Fondly called “the Illuminator” Yejide Aina is a continental architect of empowerment , UN speaker, author, and pioneering advocate for girl-child empowerment whose influence spans diplomacy, policy, innovation, and international development. With over 18 years of multinational leadership experience, she is recognized for shaping bold, human-centered solutions for girls, women, youth, and emerging African leaders across continents.
Yejide holds exceptional visibility within global policy and development ecosystems, with a growing institutional footprint across the United Nations, governments, and multinational organizations. She has been featured on UN platforms and engaged in high-level global conversations advancing social justice, youth leadership, and girl-child empowerment.
In 2025, she participated significantly at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, engaging with the Executive Director of UN Women, global CEOs, ministers, development leaders, and the President of the UN General Assembly. She contributed to the High-Level Private Sector Forum, helping align private sector action with global social development priorities.
Her global thought leadership extends to Unstoppable Africa, the flagship platform of the UN Global Compact and the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI), where she was interviewed as part of a select group of global policy and development voices shaping narratives on Africa’s innovation, leadership, and future readiness. In 2025, Yejide collaborated with Sheraa – Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (UAE), amplifying the Access Sharjah Challenge (ASC) across Africa, the African diaspora, and the Caribbean. Through this work, she connected African growth-stage startups to world-class resources, global markets, and international visibility, strengthening bridges between Africa’s innovators and the global entrepreneurship ecosystem.
She is the Founder of PHD4Girls Global Initiative and the creator of the Girl-Child Letter Mug Movement (GCLMug) a revolutionary empowerment model available in 11 languages and impacting girls across 17 countries. Written to over 600 million adolescent girls worldwide, the GCLMug has become a global symbol of identity, dignity, and leadership.
A chartered accountant and former Country Finance Director at Etihad Airways, Yejide is also the Founder of The Illuminator’s Academy, a leadership and access platform empowering next-generation change-makers. Her work has been featured across UN platforms, US TIMES News, and international media.
Yejide is honoured as one of the Top 50 African Women in Development and a recipient of the Global Recognition Award for Entrepreneurship and Social Impact. In 2024, she was invited by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, where she contributed to high-level discussions shaping national and global strategies on girl-child education and youth development.
As an author, she published 5 Tips on Personal Agility for Today’s Girl, an internationally embraced leadership resource available in French and Swahili, and used in youth leadership and empowerment programs globally.
